Decorative Painting??

We are so very happy to announce that we are now officially a decorative painting joint.  At first, I didn't really consider us to be 'decorative' painters, more like painters for entertaiment.

Well to elaborate a little bit more, Paint the Towne is now an official member of The Society of Decorative Painters. Now I won't lie, these painters are GOOD. But everyone has to start somewhere, right?

I like to think of us, more like phase 1 of decorative painting. Lucky for us Wichita happens to be headquarters for this international society. INTERNATIONAL. yep. FATE. yep.

Cute, aren't they? Well, they are very well painted.

But the biggest news of all is that Paint the Towne was invited to SDP's 39th Annual Conference and Expo. It will be held May 16-21, 2011 right here in Wichita, Kansas. So excited!!

Chic or Treat!

I LOVE Halloween. I love dressing up the kids, doing all the events, and just getting into the 'fun' spirit of Halloween. I don't go overboard, but I do think it is a great holiday for me and my family to get together and have fun.

I do like to dress up, but I hate looking too cheesy. This year my store has given me inspiration for my costume. I found these totally awesome dresses at Deconstructress at etsy.

I LOVE Autumn!

So if you haven't seen what this little 8 year old girl can do, you should. It's amazing. Plus, I love how she acts so sophisticated. It's so cute, for now :) I can't hardly believe she does it.

fun fact.

did you know...

Mona Lisa has no eyebrows in Leonardo da Vinci's painting because during that time, a woman was considered more beautiful if she shaved her eyebrows.

Hmmm. You know I have seen her a thousand times and never even noticed her eyebrows were missing!

One of my favorite things about what we do in the store is to see how everyone's paintings come out different. I LOVE seeing all the different interpretations.

Whoopi has got to be the best. Here she is as Mona Lisa, take note of her bare forehead, no eyebrows either! If you haven't ever seen her before in this Poise commercial you have to see her, she is hilarious. You could probably use some Poise while watching this! Click here.

october events.

I wanted to throw up our calendar for October so you can see what is going on this month. There are some great halloween paintings scheduled for this month, so check them out!

The 23rd of this month Cambridge Market, where we are located is having a great trunk-or-treating event for the kids.

Also, on October 30th our painting will be 'Dancing Skeletons' which is a great painting, but if  YOU COME IN COSTUME, YOU PAY ONLY $20.  How cool is that!

Hi all! I'm so excited to get this blog started about our new store Paint the Towne in Wichita, KS. This will be a great place for you to hear more about what's going on, coming up, and things that are happening behind the scenes.

Let me tell you a little bit about us. My sister and I run the store together, we mostly try to be good company and shake things up when we need to. I used to teach elementary school here in Wichita, but then my husband changed jobs, so we moved down to San Antonio. Way down deep in Texas is where I found this awesome idea.

You won't find anything like us anywhere else around town. Except for when we travel to your place, because we do! We are up for just about anything with our new place, and we really want to show everyone a great time when they come in, so if you have any awesome ideas, don't be shy! Can't wait to share all our new events and ideas with you. And if you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by to visit!
